Frequently Asked Questions

Q - How do I clean my worktop?
A - There's nothing easier than cleaning and caring for your Duropal Worktops.

A major advantage of Duropal Worktops is that the HPL surface makes cleaning so simple. Usually a moist cloth is sufficient, but use washing-up liquid to get rid of any grease . Stubborn dirt can be removed with an organic solvent such as methylated spirits or alcohol. Brushes with hard bristles (but not wire brushes) may also be used. Never use abrasive cleansers or pads as these may damage the surface. For more detailed advice, download a copy of the Duropal Guide to Good Worktops from our download page.
Q - Can I just buy a worktop, not the whole kitchen?
A - Yes
Q - Is it possible to get a back panel in the same laminate as the worktop?
A - Yes - in all décors - please see our Back Panels page for details.
Q - Can you provide sink cut-outs?
A - No, as this weakens the worktop for shipping, increasing the possibility of damage. In our experience, it is best to make the cut-outs when the worktop is in its final position to avoid errors in measuring.
Q - What is the difference between ABS & Acrylic Edging?
A - They are both a synthetic edge. In general appearance Acrylic edges appear shinier as the colour and pattern is behind a clear acrylic cover whereas with ABS the colour usually runs all the way through the edging.
Q - How much does a worktop weigh?
A - The 4100 x 600 = 62.6kg, the 4100 x 670 = 66.6kg and 4100 x 900 = 104.2kg
Q - Can I get the Quadra decors in Classic profile or vice versa?
A - No, the profile options are only available as detailed in our current worktop brochure.
Q - What is a PP Edge?
A - It is colour matched plastic edging, supplied by a third party. We don't sell separately but it is available to the trade distributors, suppliers and fabricators. (Only in the colours indicated in the brochure). Because it is more flexible than laminate edging it is used for curved shapes, e.g. round edge on a breakfast bar.
Q - Is it possible to get a worktop from the range in a different texture?
A - No, the textures are only available as detailed in our website.
Q - How do I get scratches out of High Gloss
A - You don't!
Q - What are the different textures available with the décors?

A -

  • Top Velvet (VV): a matt, soft fine surface with a gentle gloss effect.
  • Perfect Finish (PF): a diffuse matt effect.
  • Miniperl (MP): a neutral, slightly glossy, pearled surface. High resistance to fingerprints!
  • Top Face (TC): a brilliant pearl surface; the finish is highly resistant to wear and fingerprints.
  • Trevista (TR): a distinctive grain similar to oak. The tactile effect of the surface gives it an extremely natural appearance.
  • Enhanced High Gloss (HS): A sophisticated mirror effect that is more abrasion-resistant than standard high gloss materials.
  • Enhanced Semi-Matt (MS): A performance enhanced matt finish, which provides improved abrasion resistance compared to standard matt surfaces.
