The Top Edge

Frequently Asked Questions

A comparison of 40mm versus 60mm worktops

Q - How do I clean my worktop?

A - There's nothing easier than cleaning and caring for your laminate worktops.

A major advantage of laminate worktops is that the HPL surface makes cleaning so simple. Usually a moist cloth is sufficient, but use washing-up liquid to get rid of any grease . Stubborn dirt can be removed with an organic solvent such as methylated spirits or alcohol. Brushes with hard bristles (but not wire brushes) may also be used. Never use abrasive cleansers or pads as these may damage the surface. For more detailed advice, download a copy of the Duropal® Guide to Good Worktops from our download page.

Q - Can I just buy a worktop, not the whole kitchen?

A - Yes

Inset rolled edge splay

Q - Is it possible to get a back panel or upstand in the same laminate as the worktop?

A - Yes - in all Duropal® décors - please see our Back Panel/Upstand pages for details.

Q - Can you provide sink cut-outs?

A - No, as this weakens the worktop for shipping, increasing the possibility of damage. In our experience, it is best to make the cut-outs when the worktop is in its final position to avoid errors in measuring.

Q - How much does a worktop weigh?

A - The 4100 x 600 = 62.6kg, the 4100 x 670 = 66.6kg and 4100 x 900 = 104.2kg

Q - Can I get a décor in a different profile?

A - No, the profile options are only available as detailed on our website.

Q - What is a PP Edge?

A - It is colour matched polypropylene edging, supplied by a third party. We don't sell separately but it is available to the trade distributors, suppliers and fabricators. (Only in the colours indicated in the brochure). Because it is more flexible than laminate edging it is used for curved shapes, e.g. round edge on a breakfast bar.

Q - Is it possible to get a worktop from the range in a different texture?

A - No, the textures are only available as detailed in our website.

Q - How do I get scratches out of High Gloss?

A - You can't!

Q - What are the different textures available with the décors?

A -
